For over two years I had been suffering from back/hip pain and, following an x-ray, had over that time been referred to the hip assessment centre at Dean Barton, the back assessment centre at Musgrove and physiotherapists. They were all very kind, but really didn't come close to discovering the cause of my increasingly painful problem. When my ability to walk became limited to 50-100 yards I telephoned the Nuffield and was put in touch with Mr Subramanian's secretary and arranged an appointment. In the following months I was given an x-ray, MRI scan, a diagnosis of my problem and the outline of a plan of action. This, ultimately, led to an operation to remove a cyst and to remedy canal stenosis. Job done. Now, three months on I'm able to walk over four miles without pain and enjoy my hobby of birdwatching again. Hooray!

I was operated on by Mr Subramannion at Jersey General Hospital where he is a visiting consultant surgeon . I felt totally calm through the whole process of a pre admission virtual consultation to the surgery which followed . On the day of surgery some operations were cancelled I was fortunate that my operation went ahead with Mr Subramannion in charge . It was a stress free time knowing I could trust my surgeon who also took time to review my progress the following morning . I am very grateful for his care which has improved my quality of life
